The literary journal Sheepshead Review has accepted an abridged version of Daniel Ruefman’s short story “Service” for its December issue.
This story follows Devin and Karen Thatcher as they embark on their honeymoon only to become stranded on a new highway stretching across rural upstate New York. Unable to make sense of the local economy of an enigmatic town, Devin and Karen soon find themselves in violation of the Village Honor Code–with no representation, no appeals process, and no escape.
