“Standoff on a Hair Trigger” to be featured in Wisconsin Poet’s Calendar

Daniel Ruefman’s poem “Standoff on a Hair Trigger” is to be featured in the 2015 Wisconsin Poet’s Calendar.

This poem delves into the enduring Korean conflict by positioning the reader on the 38th parallel as artifacts of a politically charged war linger around him. More than 25 years after Alan Alda uttered the phrase “The war can’t last forever” in the television show M*A*S*H*, this poem seeks to point out the long ignored truth that, despite the lack of open hostilities, the Korean conflict has never officially ended.

Copies of the calendar will be available through local retailers across Wisconsin beginning in April, 2014.
